Day 6

September 6

Irina arrived at the hotel this morning and we went to buy fabric at the market. What an experience. We Americans really need to switch to the metric system like everyone else. A long walk past many beautiful sites.

The supports are ready, the fabric to cover the benches is cut, flags are continuing to be worked on and all is on schedule.

Stayed late at the Arsenal. So many people dropping by to "do a flag". Ran out of art supplies and left at 8pm. I will need to pick up more art supplies in the morning. The air was full of Velvet Underground and David Bowie all day in the Mediatech room and cafe.. They do love old school rock and roll.

Walked back to the hotel through one  of my favorite parts of the city, the underground sidewalk with depictions of the city.

I ran into some familiar faces and got pizza. Oh how they need a "Grant Central Pizza" here. Everything is on schedule. The uprights are cut, all materials are ready. It was a wonderfully exhausting day. Really wish the hotel had wifi...but it might be a good thing that it doesn't. I have slept so well here.

Just saw where Lufthansa is on shut down. Yikes.

Bought a wonderful book in the Arsenal store. Walking Nizhniy. I really cannot believe I had never heard of this place before. But then again...it was "off limits" until 1990. I have learned more about that too. Let's just say more was being manufactured around here than cars.
