Day 12

September 12

Slept until 2pm today. Just too much activity over the past days. Woke up and did computer work until 6pm.

Met Susan Katz and walked to the Marina Gisich Gallery to attend the opening of "Inventions".

A beautiful new show by Elena Gubanova and Ivan Govorkov.

What an amazing show of collected contour and gestural figurative drawings layered on canvas in pencil.

We then traveled over the Neva to Vasilevskiy Island to the Lazarev Gallery to see the work of Ilya Goponov. He does these beautiful sepia toned painting of childhood memories in coal mined from his town in rural Russia. Just beautiful and all with a contemporary bent.

Came back to Nevsky Prospekt and ate sushi. It is amazing at just how much traffic and noise pollution there is on Nevsky.  Then again we are on the main street. Exhausted and back to bed.
